MRSA is a type of staph bacteria that has a resistance to specific antibiotics, such as methicillin, oxacillin, amoxicillin, and penicillin. MRSA infections occur mostly in health care facilities and hospitals, because of the increased number of individuals who tend to have weaker immune systems.
Infections dealing with MRSA that occur in younger individuals, tend to be those who have had or are currently having medical treatment. Staph infections under this category are known as CA-MRSA (Community Associated) infections. Most infections from CA-MRSA tend to be nothing more than skin infections, that have symptoms similar to boils, abscesses, and other skin-lesions. But proper medical attention should be sought if symptoms become serious.
